Presenter: Do you ever feel powerless? Whether it's a hectic work schedule, caregiving responsibilities, a difficult colleague or a combination of all of these things, it can be easy to start feeling like you've lost control over your own life. But, no matter how powerless you feel, you can still take charge.
The key is to take positive action based on what you want to achieve. In other words, you need to become self-empowered. The first step to self-empowerment is to know yourself. What are you good at? What are your key strengths and weaknesses? What values matter most to you? By developing your self-awareness in this way, you can get to the bottom of why you sometimes feel like you lack control and set out a plan to take it back.
Next, identify your goals. What areas of life do you want to improve? What do you want to achieve? And could modesty or a fear of success be getting in your way?
Finally, develop your competencies and claim your space. Don't wait around for things to land in your lap, you could be waiting forever.

Instead, identify what skills or qualifications you need to reach your targets, then plan out how to get them and use them. Start with small, quick wins, before gearing up to bigger things. For example, maybe you could do some volunteering or job shadowing.
