Presenter: Did you know one in three of us don't get enough sleep?

This might seem like a small problem, but prolonged lack of sleep can affect your health, your memory, and your ability to focus. So, in this video, we're going to look at some ways you can get the proper amount of rest you need.

First, establish a bedtime routine and stick to it. Take the time to wind down before you go to sleep. Read a book, take a bath, or meditate, and most importantly, put your phone away. Screens are addictive and keep us alert.

Next, set your alarm. Going to bed and waking up at the same time each day can help you to develop a natural sleep schedule.

Finally, start a sleep diary. Note down how many hours you slept, how rested you felt in the morning, how much exercise you did, and what you ate and drank during the day. This will enable you to identify what helps you to sleep and what doesn't.

Reflective Questions

Once you've watched the video, reflect on what you've learned by answering the following questions:

  • Do you think you get enough sleep?
  • Do you have a bedtime routine? If not, how could you create one? What would yours look like ideally?
  • Do you regularly set your alarm for the next day? Do you always set it for the same time?
  • Have you ever kept a sleep diary? If so, did you uncover any patterns or identify things that could help you get a better night's sleep?
