Facilitator Guidance
This questionnaire, suitable for employees at any level, is best completed on an individual basis and followed up with a group discussion. It should take around 40 minutes to complete.
Alternatively, you may wish to encourage managers to promote and support self-development by asking them to facilitate it with their teams.
What to Do (20 minutes)
Explain the purpose and objectives.
Issue the downloadable Development Questionnaire below to all participants and encourage them to respond honestly to each statement. The questionnaire does not require much guidance, although be ready to answer any questions.
Review Activity (10 minutes)
Bring the participants back together and discuss how useful each statement is as a self-development method, and the extent to which individuals can use these methods to take responsibility for their development. Promote the idea that the responsibility for training and development lies as much with individuals as it does with managers and trainers.
