The ability to face up to, and overcome, difficult or challenging situations depends in no small part on a leader or manager’s personal resilience levels. In this interview, we speak to author and psychologist, Dr John Nicholson of Nicholson McBride about what leaders and managers can do to assess and improve their personal resilience.

About John Nicholson

Dr John Nicholson is Chairman of Nicholson McBride, one of Europe’s leading business psychology consultancies. He began his career teaching psychology at Oxford University. In 1988 he formed Nicholson McBride to help organisations improve the way they manage themselves and their people.

In 2010 Nicholson co-authored the book "Resilience: How to Bounce Back From What Life Throws at You" with his colleague Jane Clark. Based on their research, they have devised the Nicholson McBride Resilience Quotient Questionnaire to help individuals asses their personal resilience levels. This questionnaire is available at www.testyourrq.nicholsonmcbride.com/  (please note that there is a cost involved to download it).
