Sends a strong message about who you are. makes you stand out from the crowd. helps you clarify your goals. enhances your reputation. Quote, I’m not a businessman; I’m a business, man. [1] One. Understand yourself. To promote brand you you need to understand what really makes you tick. Consider. What’s your style, work style, leadership style, thinking style. What are your skills, education, abilities, experience. How would others describe you. What are your strengths. What are your values. What are your passions. What accomplishment are you most proud of. Two. Find your niche. Work out what you want and what’s different about you. Ask yourself, what industry field do you want to work in. Also consider. What’s my USP, Unique Selling Point, What can I do that others can’t. What work have I done that has added real value. How do I want to be perceived. What do I want to be famous for. Three. Improve your credibility. Actively promote yourself and your achievements, e.g. your qualifications, training, membership of professional organizations, publications, voluntary work by adding them to your social media profiles. Make sure they are all on your CV too. Four. Identify your audience. People you might want to tell more about what you have to offer include. Customers. Prospective employers. Influencers. Online communities. Colleagues. Mentors. Five. Build your brand online. Google yourself and see what comes up. One billion names are searched on Google every day. [2] Update your social media profiles to ensure they portray you as professional and capable. LinkedIn ranks higher than all other social media providers. [3] Engage with others in your industry, actively participate in online discussions. 6. Practice what you preach. Make sure your actions are consistent with how you want to be perceived. For example, ensure your first impressions, in person and online, reflect your brand. Develop your communication skills and be authentic. But most of all, keep on learning and developing.
