This exercise is designed to help an organization to assess its corporate responsibility policy, and identify the key areas where it could be improved. It will be of greatest relevance to a senior individual or team tasked with evaluating their organization’s performance in corporate responsibility.

Objective

This exercise will help a senior individual or team identify the effectiveness of their organization's existing corporate responsibility policy, and identify where it can be improved and who should take responsibility for actioning improvements.

How to Use This Exercise

  • The exercise is split into seven sections - corporate responsibility, including process and policy, workforce, marketplace, environment, community, human rights and guiding principles.
  • This exercise can be used individually or by a group. If using with a large group, it can be helpful to divide the group and ask smaller groups to look at sections and report their findings back to the wider group.
  • If using with a large group, it can also be helpful to send participants copies of the exercise in advance of the session to help them prepare.

What to Do

  • Download the task sheet above. Individually or as a group, carefully consider the questions in each section of the exercise. Answer each question as honestly as possible.
  • In the event that you answer ‘No’, note down suggestions for improvement in the Suggestions for Improvement column.
  • Finally, allocate responsibility for actioning identified improvements in the Responsibility column.
