You might feel tired, tearful and irritable. These are all symptoms of burnout. But we can avoid it with these five steps:

  1. Take control of your workload. This will help you to prioritize your tasks and will prevent you from becoming overwhelmed.
  2. Work with purpose. Focus on the tasks that you enjoy the most and find the most meaningful.
  3. Give to others. Making someone feel good can help to re-energize you too.
  4. Exercise regularly. Exercise can help you to relax and it creates a sense of wellbeing.
  5. Learn to manage stress. Keep a stress diary or meditate. This will help you to keep calm even when things get tough.

    I'm sorry that you were not able to view the video. I just tried it, and I can see the image no problem. The meditative music is the background theme to the presentation images. Could you share what browser you are using?

    Great reminder of things to do to avoid burnout, particularly as I am feeling pretty run down and tired at the moment. Time out to chill is my recipe for reducing those feelings however have a big work deadline so can't take the time just yet!
