Dust off That Job Description! |
When was the last time that you looked at your or your team members' job descriptions? Chances are, they've sat untouched in a drawer since the day they were agreed.
But they should be "live," meaningful tools that provide you and your people with a sense of purpose and value. You can find out how to achieve this with our article, How to Use Job Descriptions.
To create that sense of purpose, you can write job descriptions that tie in with your organization's Mission Statements and Vision Statements. Also, you can look at your own job description using Job Analysis, to identify your key objectives and what counts as success in your role.

A Final Note
A job description should be more than a checklist of tasks and functions. A good job description explains the importance of a role and its associated success factors, and it should fire up your people's passion for their work. It shouldn't be a dry document, neglected in an old filing cabinet!
Next week, you can explore three ways to motivate your team to deliver outstanding performance.
Have a great week!
