New recruits can be excited and eager to "hit the ground running," but that doesn't mean that they won't also be feeling nervous or overwhelmed. An effective induction process will not only make your starter feel part of the team, and help her to "learn the ropes" more quickly, it could also stop her from feeling isolated, unsupported and wanting to quit.
