Upskilling Phi Delta Theta’s online learning team
With help from our Learning Experience Team, Phi Delta Theta were able to bring production of their digital learning resources in-house.

The Challenge
Phi Delta Theta is an international fraternity with 185 active chapters across the US and Canada and a focus on nurturing the leadership potential of its new members.Digital learning was identified as an exciting and effective approach to delivering consistent development opportunities to every chapter, but the internal team needed help getting started.
How could they create compelling digital content, with limited budget, at scale?

The Solution
The Phi Delta Theta Education team worked with our Learning Designers to develop their internal capability. This relationship started in 2017 with the production of a ‘Bystander Intervention’ module, developed by Mindtools and focused on giving young men the courage to step in when they see something wrong.
In 2018, Ross Garner from our Learning Experience team continued to provide support through the identification of learning needs and performance outcomes, as well as managing the technical and multimedia side of production, but left content writing to the Phi Delt Education team.
Throughout 2019, the Education team took responsibility for learning design, adopting Mindtools’ techniques and approach to developing effective content.

The Results
By 2020, we had transitioned from being an external supplier to a friend and partner. The Phi Delta Theta Education Team continue to develop content using the approach they learned from Ross, while we offer support and additional capacity when needed.
