James Manktelow
James Manktelow has lead
mindtools.com since it first went
on-line in 1995. The concept for the
site started with his research into
the practical skills and techniques
he needed to progress his own career
- he found it frustrating that so
many simple but important life and
career skills were so little taught.
The Mind Tools site exists
to correct this - our team works with
experts and specialists spanning four
continents to bring you the most useful
career skills we can find, presenting
them in a way that is accurate, simple
and highly accessible.

Since
1999, more than 8,500,000 visitors
have used our sites to develop their
career skills. Many have been kind
enough to send us enthusiastic testimonials
saying how the techniques we have
helped to popularize have helped them
in their lives and their careers. |

As well as leading the Mind
Tools team, James has written three books,
"Mind
Tools", "The
Stress Management Masterclass"
and "Make
Time for Success!", with a fourth,
"How to Lead: Discover the Leader Within
You" due out in September 2005. He
and the Mind Tools team are also currently
writing new books on Relaxation Techniques,
Team Building and Career Development.
This all contributes to his
personal mission: "to help customers
around the world learn the simple, practical
skills needed to excel in their careers."
Hence the Mind Tools tagline "Essential
skills for an excellent career!"
In addition to work with Mind
Tools, James' career has spanned strategic
analysis, business development, marketing,
production and project management, business
and systems analysis, software development
and consultancy for major corporations in
most European countries. As a manager, he
has lead teams at all corporate levels,
and as an entrepreneur he has worked (with
others) to build two successful companies.
James holds an MBA from London
Business School with specialties in entrepreneurship,
finance, and strategy. He lives just
outside London with his wife Rachel (also an
LBS MBA) and son Alex.
