This section has introduced you to some of the basic skills needed to manage the intense pressure and heavy workload that comes with a challenging job. Now is the time to put them into practice!

 

Do the following:

  • Spend two hours conducting a Job Analysis of your current job.
  • Work out the value of your time in this job.
  • Decide how you will keep your Activity Log, and do the necessary preparation to start using it. Keep the Activity Log for one or two weeks. At the end of this time, analyze your Activity Log, and think through how you could improve your use of time.
  • Start keeping a To Do List. Make this part of your everyday approach to managing work.
  • Get yourself into the habit of identifying work that might be delegated, and if you are overloaded, arrange to delegate it.
