HR professional Michele Doucet considers herself ‘a bit of a nerdy type'.

"I'm a Google girl," she admits. "I'm one of those continuous learners. I'm constantly curious."

It was that thirst for knowledge that led Michele to Mind Tools, through an online search, and it's also why she decided to become a member.

"At Mind Tools, I found everything from the strategic, to the informational, to the conceptual frameworks. They are all there for you. Those are all areas where I play in my day-to-day job, so when I was doing the trial, I realized this would be an absolutely ideal tool for me. The search engine is very robust. Everything is so well categorized that it's very easy to find information," she says.

Michele is known within her company as ‘the go-to person for research in HR,' and she believes her membership of Mind Tools has improved her contribution in this area.

"I would say my colleagues would have seen an increased confidence in me, because when I pick up something I can have my hands on a solution right away," she says. "The HR consultants in my group will readily seek me out to provide counseling and guidance to them. So those kinds of things have increased my profile in the HR organization."

What does she like best about the site? It's hard to choose, but the Book Insights score high.

"Mind Tools chooses those books very carefully," Michele believes. "They're the ones where ideas and concepts are pushing the envelope in terms of management and organizations. So, at a glance, I can go into the book reviews and say, ‘OK, this is where I need to go to get any new insights into the research that may support the needs of my senior leadership team.' They're terrific!" she says.

She also appreciates the innovations that she sees on the site.

"Over time, I've seen things like the new Personal Learning Plan come in, which is a wonderful tool," she says. "Another area is the new apps review section – I loved it! Again, this is about Mind Tools keeping up with technology and helping to provide overviews and reviews of some popular tools out there that will help mangers to be more effective."
